How to choose a bedside table

  1. Width. Measure the gap beside your bed at its narrowest point, then take off 2 cm.
  2. Height. Match the top of your mattress, within about 5 cm.
  3. Storage. A drawer hides things, a shelf keeps them in reach, a wall-mounted table leaves the floor clear.

Check the exact table width before choosing from a range: subtract 2 cm from your measured gap. For example, a 32 cm gap allows a table up to 30 cm wide, and a 38 cm gap allows one up to 36 cm wide. A 35 cm table needs a gap of at least 37 cm.

Questions

Bedside tables: your questions

What height should a bedside table be?

Level with the top of your mattress, within about 5 cm. Measure from the floor to the top of the mattress, topper included. Ours stand 11 to 68.5 cm tall, and a wall-mounted one goes wherever you fix it. Read the height guide.

How wide should a bedside table be?

No wider than the gap beside your bed minus about 2 cm, measured at its narrowest point. Ours run from 20 to 55 cm wide, and the width is in every product name. Check yours with the size checker.

How much is delivery, and how long does it take?

Delivery is free everywhere in the UK. Most tables reach mainland addresses within 1 working day of your order; some postcodes in Scotland, the Isle of Wight and Northern Ireland take longer. Delivery details.

Can I return a bedside table?

Yes. You have 14 days from the day after delivery to change your mind, without giving a reason. You pay the return postage unless the table is faulty, damaged or not as described, and we refund within 14 days of receiving it back or proof that you sent it. Returns policy.

Bedside tables, bedside cabinets and nightstands

A bedside table keeps the lamp, the book and the glass of water within reach of the bed. Ours run from 20 to 55 cm wide. Each one has its width in its name and its depth and height on its page, so you can check the fit before you order.

Small and narrow bedside tables

A small bedroom rarely leaves much room beside the bed. Our 20 cm bedside tables go into a gap from 22 cm, the 30 cm ones into a gap from 32 cm, and every narrow bedside table up to 35 cm is in one place.

Bedside cabinets with drawers

Bedside cabinets, also sold as bedside drawers or bedside tables with drawers, keep the phone, the glasses and the cables out of sight. Ours have one, two or three drawers, and some add an open shelf or slot. For more drawer space, the Wye 36 cm bedside table has four drawers in a body 36 cm wide.

Wall-mounted bedside tables

When a radiator, a socket or the skirting takes the floor, a wall-mounted bedside table, also called a floating bedside table, stays clear of it and sits at exactly the height you fix it.

Solid mango wood, in pairs or alone

Most of the range is solid mango wood, and the finish name, such as Chestnut or Golden Teak, describes the colour. The darker finishes, chestnut and California walnut, are together in dark wood bedside tables, and the designs with rounded corners in curved bedside tables. For both sides of a double bed, our bedside tables in sets of two come as a matched pair in one order. Low bedside tables suit platform beds and futons.
